Goodbye Cerys

Thanks to all of you that sent emails and left messages regarding our big news (see previous post) – it was good to get so many nice messages from our friends.
On a sadder note, we no longer have a pet rabbit.
As our departure date gets closer, we are having to sort out lots of stuff here ready for the move. Our flat is for sale, along with most of its contents, but the biggest problem we had to deal with was what to do with Cerys, our pet rabbit. The bringing back to the UK of cats and dogs seemed to be fairly well documented on the uk immigration website, but there didn’t seem to be a procedure for rabbits. In any case, we were both pretty sure that Cerys would not enjoy a 40+hour trip back to the uk, plus however long she would have to spend in quarantine, so we decided to look for an alternative home for her here instead. Some friends of Ollies from work managed to find a new place for her, a decent family with a big living room and garden for her to run about in, living not too far away from us. She moved there last Tuesday, and im still gutted. She’d lived with us for the last 3 years – we got her just after we moved into the flat. So used to having her about – i can’t make food without looking for her running in circles around my feet, can’t leave the bedroom door open in case she runs in and eats all my leads, can’t sit in the garden without noticing all the wee holes shes dug etc etc.
This is daft for several reasons. Firstly, shes not dead, but in a nicer home than she had here. Secondly, she was a pain in the arse half the time, chewing through so many cables that the soldering iron was perminently on the ready in the kitchen. Thirdly, shes just a rabbit.
Except that i can’t say that. She isn’t and never was just a rabbit, but a loved part of our family who is being seriously missed right now.

Cheerio Cerys! May you enjoy a whole new living room with fresh cables and leads and maybe the odd snowboard bag handle!
