A new synth

Z1
After 11 years of faithful service, my Korg Prophecy, my favouritest synth in the whole world, has been retired. Replaced even! Replaced by a .. well, by a polyphonic Prophecy - the Korg Z1.
Not long after I bought my Proph, I happened to be in a music shop which had a giant shiny silver Korg synth that I tried, and have lusted after ever since.
And now I have one :)
Bought the synth from a chap in Soho yesterday evening, and getting it back to Watford turned out to be a wee bit more difficult than I thought. This was partly because the Z1 weighs 14kg, but mainly because the flight case it came in weighs over 18kgs on its own. I’m sure the synth could survive a nuclear explosion tucked away in that case, but seeing as I was traveling back to Watford during peace time, it was a wee bit unnecessary. Managed to get it as far as Soho Square when I decided that I’d better ring Ollie for some help. Even with two of us, it still took us over 2 hours to get home (although admittedly meeting Miles for a pint on the way probably accounted for some of that time..).
Spent an hour or so playing with my new toy once we got it home. It sounds very nice. This is where the work starts however, as while it has quite a nice interface, it is rather a deep instrument to program, and it will probably be quite a while before I create sounds on purpose, so to speak (rather than just randomly changing parameters and happening upon nice sounds by accident.. which so far seems quite easy!).
Its got a nice big keyboard (compared to the Prophs little 3 octave one), so I can start to learn how to play keyboard properly now as well.
Anyone that might be interested in buying a much loved but very good condition Korg Prophecy complete with a sensibly weighted custom made flight case, send me an email.. stephen at stega dot info.
